Have you ever had trouble getting just the right fit when making a garment from a store-bought pattern? Then this class is for you. Come learn how to alter and adjust a pattern to fit your particular shape and body type.
You will learn how to take your measurements and where, how to create ease or take out fullness in a garment, how to adjust length appropriately and how to re-draft your own pattern.
The instructor, Jennifer Jennette, learned to sew from her mother, starting with a couple of skirts when she was young. She had a hard time following a pattern/sequence, so she began to make up her own patterns by measuring her own body. While at workshop in 2005 with Sandra Betzina, a master pattern-maker for Vogue, she learned how to copy ready-to-wear garments and fit garments to specific measurements. She has continued to study on her own using printed and online resources to run her clothing business, Suryaleela.
